Approved Digital Aerial / Sky Digital Dish Installers

Digital Aerial Installation

For digital TV without a Sky subscription, our digital aerial installers can set you up with a digital aerial in time for the digital switchover.

A Standard digital aerial is capable of receiving digital signals in good reception areas. This provides more channels and enhanced services on top of what you would have been able to get with your old analogue aerial installation, for example the Freeview service.

We supply and install aerial systems for commercial and individual use. Our aerials are "high gain" and are "digital ready". We will only install C.A.I. benchmarked aerial cables throughout your property to ensure you can have quality TV pictures in any room you choose.

Freeview offers up to 48 different TV channels and 24 digital radio stations. To get Freeview, you just have to have a digital aerial installed and a digital ready television. You can even make your old TV digital ready by adding a Freeview box. If you are in a poor reception area then it may be a case of a High Gain Aerial is required.

By supplying a comprehensive range of approved Digital TV Aerials, you can be rest assured Smyths Satellite and Aerials can help you receive Digital Television

Digital Switchover

If you are receiving your existing signal from an aerial, then you will be affected by the Digital Switchover. With digital, television signals can be received from an aerial, satellite, cable or broadband connection.

How will this affect me? If you use an aerial, it will receive its signal from a transmitter. There are more than 47 transmitters in Northern Ireland, the network of transmitters are organised into about 3 groups. A group is made up of a main switchover transmitter and local relay transmitters. They will be switched over to digital one by one, so you will need to convert your television before the digital switchover date. You can find out more on our Digital Switchover information page.

There are 3 transmitter groups in the UTV region that will switch from analogue to digital TV at different times in 2012. When you switch depends on which transmitter group you are watching.
